HACKETTSTOWN — They share their name with this last meet, but the Sparta Garden Gators triumphed at the Garden Gator Classic this past weekend AT Giant Gymnastics of Hackettstown.

The Sparta Gators attended their sister gym’s meet in full force with 19 gymnasts in attendance.

After two sessions of competition, the Gators walked away with the first-place Copper team award and the first-place Silver team award. The Bronze team brought home the fourth-place award.

Individually, the Garden Gators saw their best meet of the season yet, with the Gators totals of 31 Gold medals, 28 Silver and 23 Bronze — on top of the gymnasts having 32 scores of 9.0 or better.

“While the medals are nice to bring home, what’s truly impressive was hearing the girls cheer for each other, watching the girls faces as they finished each event with such pride, and seeing them constantly improve their skills and scores with each meet,” said coach Carly Earl, who spent the session with Copper level Gators.

Sparta’s Garden Gators will compete again in late April in Hackettstown, but first up is the Butterfly Classic at C.S. Gymnastics in Flanders.
