100 participants in charity zumbathon

Fitness fanatics took part in a two hour zumbathon for charity.

Bev Hockley organised the event at Alec Hunter Academy as she wanted to raise money for Diabetes UK, because her finance, 25-year-old James Parris, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was 11.

About 100 people participated in the zumba dancing event, including Gogglebox’s Linda, Pete and George, and Miss Hockley estimated that in total about £1,000 was raised, with a small amount of this also going to Cancer Research.

Miss Hockley, who holds weekly zumba classes at the school and is a dancer in the Michael Jackson and Madonna tribute shows, said: “Everyone absolutely loved it, but they are all knackered now. Everyone was smiling and had a great time.”
