On April 26 and 27, the public is invited to join members of the Alabama Society of Traditional Bowmen at Tannehill State Park for an archery tournament that benefits children treated at Children’s of Alabama, the state’s only freestanding pediatric medical facility.
The Alabama Society of Traditional Bowmen (ASTB) brings people together who have similar interests in archery, specifically in the use of old style traditional bows and arrows. For the past 23 years, the ASTB has held the Children’s 3-D Tournament in order to give those who are skilled in the sport, and also those who would like to take a shot at it, a chance to take part in a friendly competition and also raise money for a cause.
There will be vendors, bowyers, arrow smiths, Native American crafts and much more for entertainment throughout the weekend. The shooting range will be open from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, and from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sunday the 27, with a coon shoot on Saturday night.
The cost of participation is $7 per round or the “Special Weekend Rate.” Non-ASTB members can choose to participate for $35 as a single or $55 as a family.
