Arts Worldwide Empty Bowls CFABS

Get ready to go around the world in one afternoon!

From noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 12, the Centers for the Arts Bonita Springs invite the community to join them for a free afternoon of art and culture for the entire family at the annual Arts Worldwide event.

Guests will have the opportunity to observe and create art and enjoy performances from cultures throughout the world including Africa, India, Bali, England, Mexico and France.

“The event has grown each year right along with its popularity,” said Susan Bridges, president of the Centers for the Arts of Bonita Springs. “In this modern age, we can access information from around the world with a click of a button, but there’s still something really exciting about meeting an artist personally, exploring the arts of another culture yourself, or actually trying to create the art form.”

Live performances will take place continuously throughout the day. Performers include the Delou African Dance Ensemble, the Kellyn Celtic Arts Dance Academy, the Purnama Sari Balinese Performing Arts Company, Buenos Aires native and renowned tango dancer Pablo Repun, and Maria’s Mexican Folklore Dance troupe.

“We really do have amazing entertainment from around the globe lined up for this event,” said Performing Arts Director Craig Price. “Expect to be fully entertained. It is a great event for adults and children with activities and shows for every age level.”

For those wishing to try their own hand at art, creation stations for both children and adults will be set up throughout the campus.

Projects include painting, mosaics, origami, mask making, jewelry, clay, sculpture and more. The art projects are suitable for all ages, and adults will find projects geared especially for them. All skill levels are welcome to create.

Others may enjoy having their face painted by a Centers for the Arts of Bonita Springs artist or having a balloon animal made by a stilt-walker.

“You just can’t beat the personal experience of live dance, painting, drawing and sculpture — we all want to try it; we all want to be there to experience it,” Bridges said. “It’s fun and a great experience to share with a friend or family member. The arts are perfect tools with which to build great memories and experiences.”

This year Arts Worldwide will also features an Empty Bowls experience. Guests purchase a handmade pottery bowl and sample varieties of delicious soups. The Centers for the Arts of Bonita Springs is partnering with Meals on Wheels of Bonita Springs to help fill their annual Food Pantry. Enjoy delicious soups created by local restaurants and chefs and best of all, help those in need. The Empty Bowls experience is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
