DCHS junior wins gold in Saber Fencing

Sean Stevens, a junior at Dickson County High School, recently won the gold medal in Saber Fencing at the TN State Secondary School Fencing Championships in Chattanooga.

Eighty-two fencing competitors from across the state met at The Baylor School in Chattanooga on April 5 to compete for the state title in all three weapons: epee, foil and saber.

Stevens began fencing in 2011. Because there is very little competitive fencing at the high school level in middle Tennessee, he spends the majority of his time competing at the college level in the area.

He can be found competing at Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech., and Clemson throughout the year. He also fences in national events several times each year.
