After the implantation of a new hunting application fee for state residents, some hunters say the cheaper fee isn’t much of a difference.
In the past, hunters applying for moose, sheep, and goat licenses had to pay a $75 application fee for each species.
This year, residents can pay a ten dollar non-refundable application fee for each animal, and if approved, hunters can then purchase a $125 license.
Jay Sherley, co-owner of Capital Sports, says “there are pros and cons. I liked it the way it was before because less people put in, but now people can afford to put in, and if they get a tag they pay the difference.”
The deadline for hunting application permits is my first.
Those in favor of the change say it will encourage more hunters to purchase licenses.
