Snoring Puts You More At Risk Of Heart Attacks Than Smoking
If you ever slept next to someone who snores you know that it can be a bit of a pain when you’re trying to get some sleep. It can even be a bit of problem if you snore – many people are known to wake themselves up with their own snoring.
But now it seems that there might be something more sinister to snoring than just a midnight annoyance. Research has shown if you snore you could be at a serious health risk – and not just because your partner might kill you while you sleep.
It now seems that snorers are more likely to have a heart attack than even smokers or obese people. Experts have warned that snoring is not just a nuisance; it could actually be the early warning sign of life-threatening health problems and wellness issues. Researchers have announced that the condition may cause a thickening of the arteries which can cause brain haemorrhages, strokes and heart attacks.
Around 25 percent of women and 40 percent of men snore frequently, while half of all people are occasional snorers. And while it has always been known as a slight annoyance it has only become thought of as a long-term health issue recently.
The authors of the study have claimed that snoring is just as much of warning sign for us as high blood pressure and recommended that people who snore on a regular basis should visit their doctor. This recent study is part of a growing trend in identifying snoring as something more than just a benign issue.
If you partner does snore, instead of kicking them out of bed, seek genuine medical advice to see if there is anything that can be done to reduce the problem. It might help you sleep a little easier at night.
