Could we Lose Romance Just One Year into a Relationship?
A new study suggests that around 40 percent of couples who have been together for four years only have sex a few times a month, and 15 percent of those who have been together for 15 years have sex just a few times a year. Researchers also found that relationships lose their spark after just one year, with 15 percent of people in the honeymoon period having sex everyday, compared to just one in 20 of other couples. Over half of the couples questioned who have been together for up to four years have sex a few times a week. The research gathered showed that relationships lose their spark surprisingly early on in a relationship, and nearly a third of adults stated that they have had trouble getting aroused in the first place – over 2000 people were questioned with regards to their relationship. According to Dr Tom Brett, medical director at the Lloyds pharmacy Online Doctor, people in Britain have much more to learn with regards to their sex lives – however, he explained that often not being in the mood was a result of stress, being tired, or even a medical condition. Erectile dysfunction, for example, affects one in 10 men in the UK – however, few are willing to seek help for the problem. This condition is easily treatable with medication, and many of the women questioned said that they would be happy for their partner to take medication in order to revamp their sex life – however, just a fifth of the men questions agreed. It seems that such problems could be the root of some of the issues Brits face in the bedroom, and these are easily solvable by simply seeking medical advice from your GP.
