Man kicks son down side of half pipe in Fla. skate park

A woman in Florida says she has video of a man kicking his young son down a half pipe at a skateboard park near Jacksonville.

The woman says her son pulled out his cell phone and recorded the incident after seeing the man do the same thing several other times.

“It wasn’t just, ‘Oh, this just happened and we caught it on tape.’ It happened three times prior to that, that same afternoon,” said the woman who didn’t want to be identified.

The video, posted to Instagram, went viral. The Department of Children & Families (DCF) says it is investigating the incident and so is the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The boy and his father are regulars at the skateboard park, according to the woman, saying he is considered a prodigy in the skateboarding world.

The owner of Kona Skateboard Park, Martin Ramos, said he has already spoken to the family.

“We both agreed that is was best that he didn’t come around the skate park for a while,” said Ramos.

The boy is still welcome in the park but under other adult supervision.

“He’s a really, really good little skateboarder and super-cool kid and [it’s] really unfortunate to see that happen,” said Ramos.

DCF spokesman John Harrell said he’s unsure the incident would’ve been reported had it not been for the video.
