St. Johns Town Center Nordstrom to feature floor tiles painted by Jacksonville children at a …

 

 

Registration is under way for a children’s painting party to create floor tiles for the Kids’ Wear department of the first Nordstrom store in Jacksonville, which is to open in October.

 

The 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. May 17 event will double as a fundraiser for the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens and Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, according to a news release.

 

The zoo will host the event. Tickets are $50 per child, which includes zoo admission. Organizers hope to raise $10,000 to split between the Cummer and the zoo.

 

The 200 participating children ages 5 to 12 will hand paint colorful ceramic tiles to be permanently installed in the Nordstrom store at St. Johns Town Center, according to the release.

 

The tiles will be unveiled when the new Nordstrom opens Oct. 10. Children who participated in the project will be invited to the store the weekend of the opening for a special reception.
