Huntington, WV family mourns the loss of Tracy Dale Evans
Chapmanville, WV – A family gathered in Chapmanville, WV Thursday for a funeral for Tracy Dale Evans, 6, of Huntington, WV.
Evans had been fighting Medullomyoblostoma.
“He was the most beautiful baby you ever saw,” said his grandmother Minnie Evans.
At a time when Tracy Dale’s life was just getting started his family is now dealing with the grief of losing him.
He passed away Saturday in Huntington, WV.
Photographs around the room at Evans’ funeral service told a story. He was a boy who loved his family, football and Thomas the Train.
“He has touched a lot of people’s hearts,” Minnie Evans said. “It tickles me to think of the people he has touched.”
Firefighters were at the service from Huntington and departments in Logan County, WV.
A group called Heroes for Higher that helped inspire Tracy Dale during his fight, were there to comfort his family. Members of the group dress as super heroes.
Family and friends stood in pouring rain, clinging to memories of happier times.
“Just his smile. The way he looks in his face. He was a beautiful child,” Minnie Evans remembered. “He is in our heart and he’ll be in our heart forever. Each day that will go by I will think of him.”
Tracy Dale had also made friends with the Huntington High School Football Team. He was named an honorary team captain. The team was at Thursday’s funeral.
