IndyCar’s Rahall visits NOLA track, likes plans
NEW ORLEANS — Graham Rahall says he and fellow IndyCar drivers are thrilled about bringing their series to the Big Easy, and that the planned changes to the NOLA Motorsports Park should foster compelling racing.
Rahall took a break from preparations for this Sunday’s Indy 500 to visit New Orleans on Tuesday. After stopping in the French Quarter for beignets and a frozen cafe-au-lait, Rahall toured the track which is slated to host the Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana next year.
Rahall says drivers see New Orleans as a good place to race because it’s a renowned tourist destination in a region where motorsports have an avid following.
After getting a ride around the track and viewing planned layout changes, Rahall says ample passing zones will make racing there “a blast.”
