THE community will rally around a Wynyard family tomorrow by hosting a fund-raising auction at the Somerset Football Club.

The auction will raise funds to assist Patricia Gardam, her husband, Adrian, and two-year-old daughter, Ashlee, after Mrs Gardam was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia and admitted to the Launceston General Hospital.

“Patricia went to the doctors after she couldn’t shake the flu and had been feeling generally unwell,” event organiser Annette Whitehouse said.

Mrs Whitehouse, who is Mr Gardam’s cousin, said the family refused to give up their fight against the condition.

“They’re really doing it tough and need help easing the burden,” she said.

Mrs Whitehouse said funds raised would go towards paying for the family’s accommodation, medical expenses and food.

“We need to get behind local families when they’re doing it tough and give them any support we can.”

Mrs Whitehouse said the fundraising auction has attracted lots of interest and donations of goods from across the North- West.

“We’ve had some wonderful donations to the cause,” she said.

Goods up for auction include vouchers, jewellery, make-up, clothing, fishing tackle and children’s toys.nThe auction starts at 7.30pm and a gold coin donation is required on entry. For further information or to donate contact Annette Whitehouse: 0417347703
