Research involving mice revealed that those given doses of Vitamin C did not suffer from lower bone density, even though the hormone levels of the animals were low enough to lead to bone mineral problems. Scientists carrying out the research explain that Vitamin C could boost or protect bone mineral density levels. This is important news for sufferers of osteoporosis, as they have significantly less bone mineral density than people who do not have the condition. This can lead to more fractures that can prove fatal too some and drastically alter our independence levels.
Diet and beyond
Eating snacks and meals that contain all these vitamins can have affect our bones and encourage mineral density to increase. We can further add to our bone health by making sure we do a mixture of aerobic, weight bearing and resistance exercise. Aerobic activities can prevent a range of syndromes occurring, while weight and resistance workouts encourage bone tissue to become denser.
