A GROUP of Whitsunday cowgirls have proven themselves on the rode circuit following impressive performances in Bowen.
Natasha Plemenuk (Bloomsbury), Klancy Higgins, Bridget Dray (Gunyarra) and Ashleigh Ridgeway (Nebo) illustrated their worth as barrel racers at the Bowen River Rodeo at the weekend.
Klancy won her first buckle, claiming the under-11 title while Ashleigh finished second in under-13s.
Bridget won the novice barrel race against a strong 28-deep field, while also placing in the top five of the junior barrel race.
The win followed her performance at the Nebo Australia Professional Rodeo Association meet last month.
Natasha nominated in two races, improving her last run by 1.5 seconds to put her among the top times of the day.
The four girls are now keen to hit the road and compete at every chance they get.
