RAINY weather is expected to continue sporadically throughout the northern Bahamas today but will leave the area tomorrow morning, according to meteorologists at the Department of Meteorology.
Speaking to The Tribune, meteorologist Wayne Neely said a “mid-level upper trough” has been responsible for the heavy rains.
Maxwell Moncur, also a meteorologist, added that despite the rain, his department has received no complaints about flooding and there have been no documented cases.
He added that all tornado warnings associated with the recent inclement weather have now been discontinued.
“Nobody has called in to complain, surprisingly, though people called wanting to know when the rain would stop. It’s looking pretty good right now.
“The system should be out of the area sometime tomorrow,” he said.
Mr Neely added that 1.31 inches of rain have fallen in the last two days, an “average for this time of the year”.
The wet weather forced the Ministry of National Security to delay the official commissioning of HMBS Arthur Dion Hanna Defence Force vessel, which was scheduled for yesterday.
