BOCA RATON, Florida — Stumbles in efforts to find David Beckham a site for his proposed Major League Soccer franchise have some hoping he’ll look north.

The Palm Beach County Sports Commission concedes luring Beckham out of Miami is “an extreme long shot” but they’re airing the possibility anyway. Florida Atlantic University has reached out to the English soccer legend’s advisers about using its 30,000-seat stadium in Boca Raton.

The executive director of the county sports promotion agency, George Linley, tells The Palm Beach Post (http://bit.ly/1qH0RBJ ) if Beckham would give him “the time of day, I think I could sell him on it.”

Proposals for a stadium near the Miami port and the American Airlines Arena have met opposition from county commissioners. Beckham’s advisers have said they’ll take time to consider other options.
