Monet painting class for kids offered July 1
Mini-Monet Acrylic Painting for Kids at aMuse’um Children’s Museum begins July 1
aMuse’um Children’s Museum located in historic, downtown Columbia at 123 West 7th St., will offer beginner painting classes for kids.
Mini-Monet: Basic Acrylic Painting is designed ages 7-11 and is taught by local artist Susan E. Jones beginning July 1. Classes will meet for one afternoon a week from 3:45-4:45pm for four weeks. The classes will cover the basics from mixing colors and values to completing their very own masterpieces. No prior experience is necessary.
“I love to teach as much as I love to paint,” Jones said. “Helping my younger students make magic with simple brushstrokes brings me as much joy as it does them. In my Mini-Monet classes, children discover and develop their passion for art that will boost confidence and self-esteem and will enhance the rest of their lives. Even parents listen and watch intrigued with the process.”
The fee for each four-week segment is $80, and a portion of the proceeds benefit Amuse’um Children’s Museum. A supplies list will be provided upon registration and supplies may be purchased locally. Easels will be provided during the classes.
The students in the Mini-Monet class are invited to paint with Susan at the Columbia Farmers Market from 5-7 p.m. on the third Tuesday evenings in July and August as part of Arts in Action’s “Arts Alive” program. Arts in Actions is a local non-profit dedicated to partnering with Maury County businesses, government, schoolsand residents to promote art and art appreciation in the local community.
The Columbia Farmers Market in sponsored by Columbia Main Street and is located in the Farmers Market Pavilion on Riverside Drive in Riverwalk Park.
