CC Sabathia lists home for $1.5M

New York Yankee C.C. Sabathia took the idea of a man cave to a whole new dimension when building his California home.

In addition to the mandatory flat-screen television, built-in entertainment center and bar area, Sabathia installed reclining stadium seats, a barber’s chair and digital sports ticker to provide stats and scores in real time. The three-bedroom, three-bathroom custom home in Green Valley, a gated community in Solano County, is available for $1.5 million.

“It’s the opportunity of a lifetime,” said Cathleen Rojas of RE/Max Gold, the listing agent for the home, at 936 Eastridge Drive in Fairfield, California.

The furniture, including the stadium seating in the media room, is included in the sale price, said Rojas. Some of the memorabilia – like photographs behind the bar and near the barber chair – also come with the property. Other items can be negotiated in, she said.

Vallejo native Sabathia owns two other homes in the area and has played for the New York Yankees for the last six years. The Cleveland Indians drafted him out of Vallejo High School in 1998, and he made his Major League debut at age 20. He’s appeared in six All-Star games and won the Cy Young Award for the American League in 2007.

Mementos on display include jerseys, bats and balls from players including Ichiro Suzuki, Manny Ramirez and Eric Chavez.

The home opens to a dramatic foyer with an arched entryway and support pillars. The living room offers a cathedral ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows, while the gourmet kitchen hosts custom cabinetry, a center island with breakfast bar and stainless steel appliances. The nearby formal dining room can easily accommodate a large gathering and the office includes floor-to-ceiling built-ins and hardwood flooring.

With a pool, built-in barbecue, rock waterfall and cabana, the backyard is as luxurious as the interior. High fences and established plantings lend privacy to the entertainment area, while a covered patio near the barbecue offers an ideal place for al fresco dining.

In addition to a sitting area with wet bar with wine refrigerator, the master suite includes a spa-quality bathroom with glass shower, dual vanities and a jetted tub. The Fairfield home offers two additional bedrooms, including one with a sports theme including a football field rug and wallpaper designed to look like a stadium.
