Rain on Play On! A wet and wild day can’t stop a popular street hockey tournament at the Halifax Common.
The event has been a draw for 11 years. This year, organizers built 57 rinks for nearly 4,300 players.
There are other Play On! tournaments in the Maritimes, but this one is the biggest.
“It’s a lot of work, but it’s fun,” said Chris Albrecht, part of the rink crew.
He spoke to CBC News before heavy rain soaked the city Saturday morning,
Unless there is lightning or extreme winds, the games will continue all weekend.

Organizer Margot Cameron says it’s the volunteers who make the event a success.
“We start early in the year … to organize for it. In the end there’s always a little bit of chaos involved, but we’ve got great volunteers,” she said.
Organizers expected 646 teams to play 1,500 games.
Their plans also included 100 referees and 2,200 street hockey balls.
