Baku United and the University Of Gloucestershire were this weekend’s big winners at the Copper Box Arena in London, where The FA Futsal Cup Finals were held.

After working their way through the regional qualification stages to reach the Finals at the iconic Olympic venue, the knock-out stages began on Sunday after a busy day of group action the day before.

In the men’s competition, Baku were 4-1 semi-final winners over Oxford City Lions, whilst Gloucestershire beat FC United of Manchester on penalties after a 3-3 draw in the women’s competition semi-final.

It was the same scoreline in the other women’s semi-final between Hartpury Futsal and Norton & Stockton Ancients, with the latter side winning that game to secure their place in the Final

Meanwhile, in the men’s semi-final it was Manchester Futsal who sealed a spot in the weekend’s showpiece game after a 6-1 win over Loughborough Students.

The first Final to be played was in the women’s competition, where Gloucestershire ran out as 3-1 victors over Norton & Stockton Ancients as well as seeing player Georgia Lane win the golden boot with her nine goals.

And Baku United followed that up with a 2-0 victory over Manchester in the men’s Final, with their striker Jose Lozano landing the top scorer title thanks to his seven goals.

With a total of 207 goals scored across the 36 games in the competition over Saturday and Sunday, it was certainly a memorable event for all those in attendance.
