What are the different ways that music can heal your mind?

We all know that music can be relaxing, stimulating or simply enjoyable, but there are actually scientific reasons why music can help your mind and body. Music can relax every inch of your body and completely clear and heal your mind. Why is this, how does this happen and what can we do to make sure we have the right music for the right situation?

Many artists, whatever their style, say that music is the highest form of art. It is the truest expression of existence. Modern science, especially physics, defines reality as vibration. Everything that exists is pure vibration; energy moving and oscillating at different frequencies. What we know as sound is simply the spectrum of vibration that we can hear. There are many other frequencies of energy that are beyond or below audible sound, but this doesn’t mean that they do not affect us. As we are also vibrating at a certain frequency, we form part of a unified field of energy that holds us together. Vibrations from the universe, music and other electro-magnetic fields affect us subtly whether we realise it or not.

Specific frequencies of vibration or sound blend with our own energy or electro-magnetic field and change our physiological state of being, whether we are conscious of it or not. Alpha brain waves, for example, are the main brain wave patterns for relaxation, at about 5 Hertz. They are not audible but if we are subjected to this frequency we will become relaxed. The body is very sympathetic to frequencies even though today we have become de-sensitised to them. The more sensitive you become the more you can become aware of how sound affects you.

Try calming music when you want to relax and faster music when you want to be energised. Also, investigate “Meta-music”; music for meditation and causing a subliminal effect on the mind. Music is an excellent complementary health practice for your wellness. What’s more, this source of wellbeing is very easy to find and comes at extremely low cost. Strike out now to experience the world of sound and feel how it affects your vibrationary field.
