Kanye West: Annie Leibovitz quit photography assignment one day before wedding

“Let me tell you something about that kiss photo that my girl put up,” West said, referring to the first official photo of the couple’s May 24 wedding, depicting West, 37, and reality-TV star Kardashian, 33, kissing before a wall of flowers and foliage after being pronounced husband and wife. Speaking at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity conference in France, West said Kardashian “was exhausted” during their honeymoon “because we worked on the photo so much because Annie Leibovitz pulled out right before the wedding. I think that she was, like, scared of the idea of celebrity.”
A representative for Leibovitz, 64 — who has photographed countless celebrities for Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair and other publications since the 1970s — did not return a Newsday request to confirm West’s assertion. Leibovitz photographed West and Kardashian for the cover of Vogue’s April issue.
A replacement photographer came on, West continued, in remarks transcribed by the World Entertainment News Network newswire, but, “Because Annie pulled out, I was like, ‘OK, I still want my wedding photos to look like Annie Leibovitz [shot them],’ and we sat there and worked . . . [editing] that photo for, like, four days because the flowers were off-color.”
