Health centre expanding its services
A HEALTH and wellbeing centre is expanding its services.
Cornerstone, in Sir Isaac’s Walk, Colchester, offers weight management programmes, NHS health checks, stop smoking help, health trainers, health visitors, sexual health and urology.
Services specifically for young people include chlamydia screening and family planning clinics.
Karen Stimpson, newlyappointed health and wellbeing support services manager for Anglian Community Enterprise, which runs Cornerstone, said it was hoped it would become a onestop shop for the 25,000 people who pass through its doors every year. She said: “Now we are centralising all our health improvement services at the centre, we expect it to become even busier.”
In the last two years, Cornerstone has added a service for moderate non-dependent drinkers, has representatives from Cope, a charity providing information, advice and support to people who have eating disorders, and an immunisation team providing MMR and HPV vaccinations.
There is also an infant feeding room and a young person’s Sexual Health and Drug/Alcohol Service.
Cornerstone has also become a community venue for adult weight management programmes, Shape-Up and My Weight Matters.
