Teenagers at the Big Day Out music festival are more likely to report having sex at a younger age compared with festival-goers in their mid to late 20s, a study has found.
The finding is from a Burnet Institute survey of more than 3500 people aged 16-29 who attended the Big Day Out between 2009 and 2011.
Researchers asked participants a range of questions about their sexual health knowledge and behaviour including their age when they first had sex.
Overall, the median age at which participants first had sex was 17.
