Donate Your Old Electronic Appliances And Make People Happy
As technology takes dramatic steps forward and we are constantly replacing and upgrading equipment and appliances that are now yesterday’s news – many of us end up stock-piling electronic goods that no longer have any use. However, the recycling of electronics can be as beneficial as other forms of recycling and makes a lot of sense from an eco-friendly perspective.
However, before the disposing of goods, it’s important to consider some security issues. It is likely that many of your electronic appliances such as mobile phones and computers will have large volumes of personal information on them – so make sure they’re wiped before donating them to a recycling resource. If they fall into the wrong hands – this could make you vulnerable to identity theft or other types of fraudulent activity.
In addition to recycling electronic appliances, donating some of them can make a big difference to people’s lives. As the world is becoming increasingly dependent on the use of information technologies, some people are finding themselves in a situation in which they are, “digitally-excluded”, such as not having regular access to the internet or not having enough money to use a mobile phone. There are many charities that would be happy to take your unwanted devices and appliances off your hands and give them to people who really need them, or sell them in shops so the profits can be given to a range of worth-while causes.
So instead of letting these devices stock-pile in your garage, loft, or shed – it’s worth considering options of how they could be better used. Even small and seemingly worthless items such as old batteries, calculators, watches, music players and pretty much anything electronic, can be of tremendous value if it is donated or recycled. It’s very likely you upgraded some of your appliances over the past few months – so why not give some of those items gathering dust away!
