Asthma Triggers. Those You May Know And Those You May Not…
Right, we all know what asthma is. We’ve all known people with it or we have it ourselves. It’s very common and in some parts of the world there are around two asthmatics per classroom throughout schools. For those who don’t know the details, it’s an inflammatory condition which affects the respiratory system at its smallest level. Tiny tubes in the lungs known as bronchioles are the most affected and can become totally blocked and cause all sorts of issues breathing, potentially ending in death. Asthma is very treatable but asthmatic patients need to be constantly vigilant against allergens and potential triggering factors.
But just what could set you off if you’re asthmatic? What should you avoid like the plague and what could be causing you recurring issues without you even realising it? Prepare to know it all!
Causes and Triggers of Asthma
Dust Mites. These tiny critters defecate a protein which can be very dangerous to certain asthmatics, especially in confined spaces. Since insulation and double glazing came into proper effect, dust mites have been a real issue to asthmatic people.
Mould. An irritator of all kinds of conditions, mould spores tend to get into your throat and can cause respiratory issues for even non-asthmatics. Avoid at all costs if you’re a sufferer.
Pollen. A well known allergen which sets of hay fever just as profoundly as asthma, watch out for the daily pollen counts on weather programs.
Pets. Depending on the individual, pets can be a huge triggering factor for any allergic condition especially asthma.
Food. Again, you may not expect food to affect your breathing but it can do. Be aware of what you’re eating and try and work out and then remember any foods or drinks which create an odd or adverse reaction in your respiratory system after you’ve consumed them.
