Keele Attains More Funding For The Fight Against Arthritis

As with all of the big conditions in the world today, we know a lot about arthritis. We know some great ways of treating its symptoms, we’ve helped people manage the condition for years and years and even developed ways to replacing joints and removing the condition entirely. However, as with cancer and diabetes, we don’t know anywhere close to everything and we can’t cure the condition. The best medicine can do is slow it down or even reverse it with a treatment combining certain medications and some more holistic lifestyle changes removing exacerbating factors from your life. There are over 200 kinds of arthritis and it may be that we don’t see a proper cure at all in our lifetimes simply because there’s so much to cure, too much perhaps.

A lot of research is done into arthritis in its many forms. Billions of dollars are spent each year and tens of thousands of man-hours are poured into finding ways of curbing or eliminating this condition. In the last several decades there have been some significant advances too which just goes to show how important funding these initiatives are. It’s important that the advances continue so as to ensure a better standard of wellness for those afflicted with arthritis.

Along these lines, Keele University in the UK has just received several million pounds worth of funding. Keele has a specialised research centre for arthritis and similar conditions and will be able to continue its pioneering work thanks to this new grant.

Considering 20% of adults visit their doctors with arthritis-like symptoms every year and the condition has spread so widely, it’s important that funding reaches the right places! Keele has already shown promising results and hopefully, in the years to come we will see much more from the University!
