The Truth About Arthritis. Is It Too Much?

There are a lot of different kinds of arthritis, over 200 to be more specific. They vary from condition to condition but generally they’re centred around issues in the joints, generally inflammation. What causes this inflammation depends on the kind of arthritis you’re unlucky enough to be afflicted with but regardless of this, arthritis will lead to chronic pain and to loss of mobility. In the past and in less developed areas of the world today, the condition can actually lead to crippling deformity too. A terrible reminder of the condition itself.

One of the varieties of arthritis, known as psoriatic arthritis, is known to devastate lives. It impairs your wellbeing, lifestyle, productivity at work and quality of life and a recent study has shown that this is true of a percentage of people who suffer from the condition.

The study involved a huge look at sufferers of psoriatic arthritis. Of those asked over 70% blamed the condition for the state of their lives. Some called it embarrassing and others said it prevented them from living life as they had. Some even blame it from their continuing state of unemployment. Most went to on talk about the negative effect their illness was having on their emotional well being with issues like depression or anxiety disorders being very common in this particular grouping.

This study has really illustrated just how much of a massive impact a condition like psoriatic arthritis, or indeed any form of arthritis can have on your life. When you’re stuck with a condition forever it can easily weigh you down and you can become overpowered by the sense of hopelessness.

Remember, arthritis isn’t the end of the world. We may not be able to cure it but we can treat it and every year it gets easier to live with because of that!
