Premature Ejaculation: Ways To Transform Your Love Life
Sexual issues can cause problems within our relationships and affect our self-image, although there are different techniques we can use to overcome difficulties, like premature ejaculation, say health experts.
Where to start
Modern life means our relationships can come under stress and if we develop problems with our sexual health then this could add to our worries. Talking with our partners can help us to overcome our fears, and they can even help resolve some of our sexual wellbeing issues, explains medical sex therapist Vijaysarathi Ramanathan. Although, if we feel more comfortable, then we can try out some techniques without our partners.
Getting control
The expert explains that most of the techniques we can employ to overcome premature ejaculation focus on giving us more control over our body when we are having sex. The squeeze technique is an effective way of doing this and it’s all about timing. This involves putting pressure at the end of the penis just before ejaculation. It’s important that we don’t use pressure that proves painful and we should maintain it for about 10 to 15 seconds.
Ramanathan says that this method can be used throughout sex to delay ejaculation. Another way that can give us great control during sex is the start-stop technique. This involves hand stimulation of the penis until we are nearing ejaculation, then stopping all contact until we feel in control again. We’re advised to repeat this process several times. As we build confidence in our ability to control when we ejaculate, then we can use the stop-start technique during sex.
Boosting confidence
The expert reinforces the idea that these methods can be carried out with our partners, but he also suggests trying them when we are alone too. He recognises that although this may seem culturally unfit for some, masturbation has health benefits. Our doctors can supply advice on sexual health matters and can put us in touch with groups to help resolve any of our fears.
