Getting married means committing yourself to one person for the rest of your life, and that means every aspect – including the sex. You may have been married for a long time and going to bed with the same person every night, but how much do you really know about your own partners desires?
This is a question that a recent survey set out to answer. The survey, published by iVillage, was released with some surprising results. Men and women revealed the secrets of their sex lives including their most passionate desires, their number of partners and their thoughts on cheating.
When it came to turn-ons, women rated “feelings of love” and “when your partner takes the initiative” as their favourite. Men’s top turn-on was “seeing your partner in sexy clothes”, followed by “feelings of love”.
Interestingly, 68 percent of men married their best sexual partner while only 45 percent of women did the same. When asked how many sexual partners they had had, the most common response among men was six to ten, with 25 percent claiming this. With 31 percent, the most common response among women was two to five. 19 percent of both men and women said they had only ever had one sexual partner.
It also seems that men watch more pornography than their partners believe. 42 percent of women suggested that their partner never watches porn, while only 21 percent of men claimed to never watch it. 63 percent of women said that they never watch porn.
Another interesting fact was that our understanding of what our partner thinks of their sex life is limited. 79 percent of men believed that their partner was happy with their sex life, while only 61 percent of women said that they were. On the other hand, 55 percent of women believed their partners were happy, while 79 percent of men indicated that they were.
