Your Foundation: Use These Youthful Make-Up Tricks

How To Look Younger Than EverGetting our make-up looking flawless begins way before we begin applying our foundation. A good anti-ageing skin care routine involves lots of preparation, as well as making sure we have the best tools to hand.

Before we begin

Without knowing it, many of us touch our faces without thinking. Although the skin on our face may start the day clear from bacteria thanks to daily cleansing, we can transfer germs easily from our hands to our faces in seconds. Before applying our make-up we need to thoroughly wash our hands to rid them of bacteria, especially if we’re prone to pimples. Any sponges and brushes we use should also be cleaned regularly.

Get primed

When we’re applying foundation to older skin it’s important we moisturise beforehand. This helps plump out our skin and can even reduce the appearance of wrinkles. If we also opt for creams that are designed to give a more youthful gleam to our face, then we may take years off our appearance. Primers are also useful for protecting us from the sun and can set our make-up so it stays put all day.

Lay the foundation

Concealer is an effective way to hide blemishes and using green-based cover-up for thread veins works particularly well. Peach-coloured concealers for dark shadows is another way to bring light to our face and can wake up tired skin. After patting on concealer we can finally add our foundation. Choosing a product designed for our skin type is very important, so we can reduce blemishes if our skin is too oily, or add moisture if it’s dry and flaky. Brushes help blend in make-up without absorbing too much of the liquid, while sponges give an even finish. We can simply use our fingers as well, with the heat from our hands helping make-up oils to blend in.
