NAET: A Holistic Method that Gets Rid of Allergies for Good
Allergies can really take their toll on your wellness during spring. You might try to avoid the allergen or take pills to guard your wellbeing against it, but a more holistic method may be able to get rid of your seasonal and food allergies for good; the Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET).
NAET was discovered by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad, who uses energy balancing to alleviate allergies in a non-invasive, drug free, natural way. The technique has been around for the last 35 years, but has recently gained real momentum as more and more people are finding themselves suffering from allergies year round. The treatment works on the basis of helping your body to find re-balance through your own energy.
According to Karyn Maag, a severe allergy sufferer, she was desperate for help and decided to try NAET. When someone had given her a book about the treatment years ago, Karyn had tossed it aside, and didn’t give it a second thought until she decided she needed help. Karyn said she left her first treatment ‘just laughing, thinking this is ridiculous’ but she kept coming back because no one else could help her, so she had nothing to lose.
Karyn explained she was ‘allergic to every vegetable and fruit you can imagine—and wheat, calcium, the sun.’ Even when Karyn touched new clothes, her hands would start to burn and get a rash from the formaldehyde on the clothing. After her NAET treatments, all of that stopped. ‘It’s really crazy but it does work,’ she said. Karyn’s results were almost immediate, though she couldn’t quite get her head around it. ‘At first my husband said if you have a positive attitude you can make your body heal with anything,’ she noted, but added that she figured the placebo effect could not be the answer since she was laughing at how ridiculous it was the entire time.
Doctor Gary Olsen is a chiropractor at Pioneer Comprehensive in Draper who offers NAET treatments. He explained that NAET treatments, which are based on Oriental medicine, acupuncture and a mix of western medicine, ‘will work whether you believe or not believe.’ He added, ‘It’s about energy and stopping your body from hyper reacting to an allergen.’ However, it’s always recommended that you talk to your own doctor before you try anything.
