3 foods to improve the milk flow…
Fennel seeds – Fennel seeds boost the quantity of breast milk because the plant is a great source of galactagogue.
Apricots – They contain phytoestrogens, which help regulate milk-producing hormones in the body and can increase lactation.
Green papaya – It is a great source of galactagogue which helps improve the flow of milk.
- 0-6 months – Exclusively breastfed (not even water).
- 6months-onwards – Start on complementary foods of age in addition to breast milk.
- 6–8 months – Start with thick porridge, well mashed foods 2-3 times a day plus breastfeeding. Start with 2–3 tablespoonfuls per feed, increasing gradually to ½ of a 250 ml cup.
- 9–11 months – Finely chopped or mashed foods, and foods that baby can pick up 3–4 meals per day, plus breastfeeds. Let the baby have ½ of a 250-ml cup/ bowl at each meal.
- 12–23 months – Family foods, chopped or mashed if necessary. Offer 3–4 meals per day, plus breastfeeds. Let each meal be ¾ to full 250 ml cup/bowl.
