The Secret to Banishing Those Signs of Ageing for Good
Stem cell research could lead to all kinds of exciting things in the fields of health and wellness, but new research has now shown that they could lead to significant discoveries in the area of anti-aging, too.
This discovery was made quite by accident, when people were being treated with stem cells to help improve small problems such as minor joint injuries and arthritis. Stem cells were taken out of the bodies of these patients, put through a centrifuge-type process, and then reinjected into the affected patients. Much to their surprise, patients found that, as well as the improvement to the wellbeing of their injured or affected joints, another unexpected side-effect occurred: their skin looked smoother and younger. Wrinkles were smoothed out and their skin looked fresher and younger – something that their family and friends started to comment on.
Stem cell clinicians say that whilst stem cells have been used for a number of years now to treat various medical conditions, their use in the cosmetic world are relatively new. Now it is thought that the derivatives of these stem cell products could be incorporated into anti-aging creams to help restore the elasticity of the skin and help to make people look younger, smoother and more wrinkle-free.
Due to the new research, many people are now looking towards stems cells as some kind of ‘holy grail’ when it comes to anti-aging. This is backed up by research that has been carried out on animals, where stem cells have been proved to help improve the integrity and quality of skin, through a process which is thought to replace the older tissues and cells inside the skin.
Now, a company in the United States called Jeunesse has produced a range called Luminesce, which are creams and serums that contain stem-cell derived messengers called cytokines.
