How to Maintain Beautiful Skin Throughout Monsoon Season

Anti-aging is a challenge at the best of times, but in countries where there is a rainy season, it can be even more of a challenge. Whilst many people mistakenly believe that monsoon season is the best time for the wellness and wellbeing of their skin, in fact the exact reverse is true. During a rainy season, dirt, grime, pollution and harmful rays from the sun all combine to make your skin more prone to damage than ever before.

On top of this, the risk of fungal infections is increased, due to the sweat and dirt that accumulate on your skin. People also often make the mistake of skipping sunscreen during monsoon season, but this is entirely the wrong attitude. The harmful rays of sun that cause skin damage can easily penetrate clouds, and even on a day when the sun’s rays are not obvious, you should make sure you are wearing at least a factor 30 sunscreen.

Ironically, many people also experience dry skin during the rainy season, because getting your skin wet in the rain actually has a dehydrating effect. This can also be caused due to a lack of vitamins in the skin. The best way to beat this is by keeping your face clean using a cleanser rather than soap, and ensuring that it has natural ingredients that will not dry out the skin. You can make your own by adding some honey to two tablespoons of milk. This will both tone and hydrate the skin.

Oily skin can also become problematic in the rainy season, and this can lead to breakouts of whiteheads and blackheads, as well as unsightly and painful pimples. Keep on top of this by using a cleanser that controls the oil in your skin and cleans the pores thoroughly. Use gel-based sunscreens that won’t block up the pores of your skin, too.
