SEX & HEALTH: About Vaginas: “Too Wet” Down There?

After my article about using lube came out, many people contacted me about “too wet” during intercourse.

Some people confuse the wetness for pee. It is possible for people to ejaculate. It is possible for them to leave a wet spot. This isn’t pee. It’s your body’s way of preparing for penetrative sex.

Extreme changes in your body should prompt a visit to the doctor. It could mean an extreme change in hormones. Vaginas are all different, and reproductive cycles affect how wet you get and at what point in your hormonal cycle. Being “too” wet during penetration does not cause any health problems. If you are a person that is more wet, regularly, it is important to change your panties/underwear/boxers at least once a day.

So, is it removing all friction from penetration? No.. Do you own a towel? Yes. Then you are good to go.

Apparently, it is overwhelmingly common for people to be shamed by their partners for creating too much natural lubrication for sexual activity. After you unpack them, case by case, we can see that this comes from the societal idea that women are not to enjoy sex, or sexual activity. See, if a girl likes sex, that makes her a “slut”

“Too wet” or “too dry”- your vagina is just fine. You’re allowed to enjoy sex. If your partner is shaming you for being “too wet,” they are slut-shaming you.
