ONE News again joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force in the search for missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.

We were on board the RNZAF P3 Orion when it departed the RAAF base Pearce near Perth around 5pm NZT, Saturday.

The Kiwi crew was expected to return to the new search area area where it was one of five aircraft to spot objects in the Southern Indian Ocean on Friday.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority has said the objects cannot be verified or discounted as being from MH370 until they are relocated by ships.

A Chinese ship has been on the scene looking for the objects since first light Saturday.

Eight aircraft were involved in Saturday’s search mission with planes from Australia, Japan, China joining the RNZAF Orion.

Six ships were also expected to reach the search area late in the day or after dark.

The search zone shifted north after international air crash investigators in Malaysia updated their previous analysis of MH370’s likely movements.

Saturday’s sortie was the third time ONE News has teamed up with the RNZAF on search missions launched from the Western Australia coast.
