Getting Informed On STI’s Could Save Your Life!

sex educationWe all know about the horrors of STIs and how dangerous unprotected sex can be. It turns out that while this information might seem like relatively common knowledge today, not everyone’s as well-informed. There’s an entire generation of people who are unaware of the dangers or at least unaware of how to best protect themselves from them. This is because they’ve missed the advertising campaigns dedicated to warning us of the horrors. They were busy or in long-term relationships so when the ads were aimed at them they didn’t pay them much heed. Now these forty or fifty some-thing’s have come out of these commitments and are ready to enter a whole new era of sexual experimentation.

This is great news in many ways. Everyone should embrace their sexuality, be able to talk about it and enjoy it to the best of their abilities. You can only enjoy something properly if you’re safe and not hurting others. The fact is that unprotected sex isn’t just damaging to the one person, both partners are at risk. When you put other people as well as yourself at risk you need to take steps to protect yourself and them.

Sexually transmitted infections are no joke and while many of them can be dealt with relatively easily there are more which simply can’t be. Becoming infected with HIV or AIDS, which is no longer a death sentence, is still a life-changing danger. In many parts of the world without the resources to fully treat them, these diseases can kill.

It’s never too late to get informed on sexual health and the importance of protection. There are plenty of resources available online for such a purpose. Getting informed could well save your life and the life of your perspective partners. Sexually transmitted diseases aren’t just for young people. 80 year old’s are as at risk as 18 years old’s!
