Weight Loss Wellness is Sexy
The dictionary defines wellness as ‘the quality or state of being healthy in body and mind, especially as the result of deliberate effort’ and ‘an approach to healthcare that emphasises preventing illness and prolonging life, as opposed to emphasising treating diseases’. You may already know what wellness is, (after all you’re currently reading an article from Yourwellness!) but focusing on wellness, as opposed to thinness, as a goal for weight loss is not only better for your wellbeing, but it’s sexy too!
A lot of your self-image can be wrapped up in your weight, so sometimes losing or controlling that weight can mean you’re a better you. When you are at the perfect weight for you, your whole body shows the results. Your skin improves, and even glows, because it’s not bogged down by excessive toxins and doesn’t suffer from stretch marks. Your joints show the benefits too, as they don’t have to work overtime to carry excess weight, and you are therefore free to move around as you like. This also means your joints can operate smoothly for longer, and aren’t going to wear out as quickly so you’re mobile and pain-free for longer than you would be if you hadn’t lost that weight.
Also, weight loss improves your wellness because your organs aren’t burdened by moving excess fat or toxins through your system, and can therefore work properly and efficiently. Freeing your organs to keep you running in optimal condition means you will have more energy and decrease your chances of suffering from some very serious weight-related diseases, such as high blood pressure, heart attacks, diabetes and gout. Your risk of disease also decreases because your systems are working properly, and aren’t sluggish from working so hard to remove excessive fat and toxins.
Finally, your mental wellness improves with weight loss. You’re better rested and sleep well, because your organs aren’t working overtime, and this in turn makes your days go better since you’ve received the rest and rejuvenation you need. You also feel more confident in yourself as your clothes fit, so you aren’t uncomfortable and constantly adjusting your outfit all day long. So if you have lustrous skin, a body that functions like a well-oiled machine, and a more rested and confident you, how could you not say that wellness is sexy?
