Just keep running, just keep running…
Running is a great way to stay fit and healthy, it’s not for everyone but for those who enjoy the freedom and de-stressing which a run can grant it’s a way of living a healthier life. The trick with taking up running is tenacity and perseverance, it can be difficult to keep it up over long periods of time and as such it’s useful to have a friend or loved one support you in the endeavour. The following is a quick guide for that friend, several easy steps to helping keep the runner running!
- Social media is a great boon to those seeking affirmation from their peers. Post distances whenever you run and you’ll find friends want to support you, also if you stop running for whatever reason and stop posting this might cause those same friends to push you right back out there
- Music is a great motivator. The right playlitst can do wonders for getting you out there and running, make sure it’s uplifting and upbeat!
- Make sure to vary you route so as not to get bored. Doing anything again and again is boring and repetitive, changing you route around might help to maintain your running!
- Bringing a friend, even if they cycle while you’re running can be a great source of encouragement. It’s always nicer with someone there to make conversation with and they’ll look out for you and spur you onwards!
- Set goals and work towards them. Many runners chose a 5k race to train for and then work towards getting fit so they can run the race. Keeping track of how far a runner has run and how quickly they’ve done so can be a great way of monitoring progress.
- Rewards. If you or your friend buy you a little gift for each goal achieve you’ll be actively working towards something and as such may be more likely to continue!
