Eradicating the Symptoms of Arthritis with Exercise
With conditions like osteoarthritis mobility becomes a real issue. The condition inflames joints to the point at which mobility can become impaired to the level of disfigurement; the inflammation literally causes lumps or the joint itself to start working the wrong way. It’s something which is very common in the elderly and quite often you’ll find them with strangely crooked hands or nodules in their finger joints. Osteoarthritis is unpleasant and as I’m sure you can imagine, the pain it causes doesn’t really create a desire for movement in patients.
What’s been discovered recently in the USA though is that, though it may be initially painful this movement may well be beneficial. An exercise program was run in a hospital for those patients who were suffering from osteoarthritis; it was cheap and easily affordable to all.
Patients who attended found their symptoms lessened considerably. They experienced less pain, greater mobility and an overall increase in their quality of life, the change was so surprising and profound that doctors have started to enact it in other hospitals.
The issue with this new treatment idea is getting patients to attend the first few weeks. Once they start they’ll be hooked as they experience the many benefits of exercise on osteoarthritis but to start with they could find it painful or very uncomfortable to move around as much and for this reason they may not attend at all.
The great thing with treatments like this is that you can try them on your own at home without spending any money. If they work then great, you’ve found a new way to help manage the nastiest aspects of this crippling condition and if they don’t all you’ve wasted is a bit of time.
