How Inflammatory Joint Condition Is Affecting The Young
Well, the inflammatory joint condition, arthritis, is affecting more and more young people. In the past we’ve seen arthritis as a condition which only touches the old and infirm and while it’s true that they’re much more at risk in general than the younger population, what’s becoming apparent is that the risk to the younger is growing.
The reason why is the cosmic joke. It’s a dual reason.
Reason One – Rising levels of obesity. Being heavier means more stress is put on the joints and the buffer between bones, cartilage, will degrade at a far faster rate than is natural. Being persistently obese and never taking steps to lose that weight or ease the constant pressure on your joints will eventually lead to arthritis or vastly exacerbate any symptoms you may already have had.
Reason Two – Exercise, or rather over-exercise. That’s right, not only can you get arthritis if you don’t exercise, you can also get it if you do. Putting excessive amounts of stress and strain on your joints will damage them over time and lead your towards an arthritic tomorrow. People who do a lot of exercise and expect too much from their bodies are likely to get a nasty shock in the form of arthritis.
So what can you do? Moderation is the key to this and the key to life. Some body fat is normal and good for you and some exercise will help to keep you healthy and out of the hospital. Too much of either could lead to some nasty complications at both ends of the spectrum. All things in moderation and all things to a point.
