Could You Lose That Water Weight In These 3 Simple Ways?

When it comes to weight loss, there are many tips and tricks of the trade. However, maintaining your wellness is an all-important factor to consider and any weight loss plan should include a healthy, balanced diet and exercise programme. That said, you could give your wellbeing and your weight loss a little bit of a boost in 3 water-weight-reducing ways: drink more water, consume less sodium, and eat fewer carbohydrates.

It may sound counter-intuitive, but in order to lose some excess water from your body, you need to make sure you drink plenty of water every day. You need water, as it makes up 75% of your body, and when you don’t drink enough your body thinks it won’t get any more and stores excess amounts of it that you don’t need. Also, your liver, which is the organ in your body that metabolises your fat, doesn’t function as well as it should, so the kidneys have to try to help it burn fat, which it doesn’t do as effectively as your liver can do on its own. Therefore, if you want to burn as much fat as possible you need to aim to be drinking 8 glasses of water a day.

Next, you can lose water weight by lowering your intake of sodium. Sodium, or salt, causes unnecessary water retention as it absorbs water. However, don’t completely eliminate sodium from your diet because it is one of the electrolytes that your body needs. Instead, make sure your diet contains fewer than 1000mg of sodium a day and you can still lose that water weight.

Finally, carbohydrates store water just like sodium does, especially processed carbohydrates, so reduce the amount you eat but, again, do not eliminate them completely. Carbohydrates are where your body gets its energy from, which is important for weight loss as you need energy for exercise and digestion, so try making fruits and vegetables your primary source of carbohydrates.

Remember, these tips are only to be used as part of a regime that includes regular exercise and healthy eating, but if you want to improve your weight loss and your wellness, these 3 ways could give you that extra boost you need.
