Weight Loss Myth Smashing, Here We Go Again!

There are all sorts of misconceptions, myths and even the occasional legend surround weight loss and its many facets. People are happy to believe what they’re told as most of the myths are comforting and make you feel better. Well sorry to say that life isn’t about comfort, it’s about overcoming adversity and rising to the challenge. So let’s smash some myths, shall we?

  1. Losing Weight is hard
Anything is hard if you do it the wrong way. Once you’ve found a way of doing it which you can stick to and even enjoy then it suddenly becomes very easy. Don’t just settle for a diet or scheme you hate, switch it up a bit. Try several and decide which works best for you, read online reviews and talk to friends and relatives who’ve successfully lost weight themselves. Trying to lose weight can be fun if you make it fun.
  2. Quick Fix Solutions work
They almost never do and in the scant amount of cases where people actually lose a considerable amount of weight they tend to put it straight back on because the scheme didn’t teach them how to live their lives healthily. Losing weight takes commitment, you’re not just going to remove it and move on, you have to be prepared to put some effort in.
  3. Losing Weight means a Lifestyle change
This is a massive cliché and has lost all meaning. It’s better to think of it as a way of life you’ll need to adopt. People tend to hear lifestyle change and just ignore it. That’s fine generally but when it comes to weight loss it means that they’re going to miss important aspects and not fully embrace whatever there scheme may be!
  4. Losing Weight = Eating Less

Actually if you’re eating more vegetables you’ll find yourself eating more. It’s not all a grand exercise in learning to starve yourself, you can eat fantastically well without making yourself fat you just have to learn how and what you can have!
