You will certainly be aware of the term – cholesterol, the accumulation of which can often have a highly-detrimental impact upon your health and wellbeing. Cholesterol can exist in the body in both good and bad forms. Good cholesterol consists of a high density protein, known as HDL, and is crucial for the body’s health. Those with such high levels of LDL are prone to the onset of cardiovascular disease and other chronic ailments such as risk of stroke.
Heart-diseases are often caused by the accumulations of LDL, as they harden the arteries by creating a substance, known as plague – which can lead to atherosclerosis and an eventual disruption of blood-flow. Although many people with high-cholesterol levels experience them as a consequence of poor lifestyle factors such as: unhealthy diets and lack of exercise, genetics also plays a role within cholesterol-levels, and if your family has a known history of it, it is wise to have your cholesterol-levels regularly monitored.
Fortunately bad-cholesterol levels can be reduced in a fairly simple manner, and getting lots of exercise, eating low-fats foods and certain foodstuffs highly adept at minimising levels – can really help.
