Easy Ways To Keep Healthy While Dealing With Asthma
Asthma isn’t a condition you can ignore. It’s chronic which means it’s not just going to go away and it has the potential to be deadly. Of course, even if it doesn’t kill you, ignoring your condition can cause severe and permanent damage to your airways and general respiratory system damaging your standard of living entirely and limiting your options in later life.
As with most chronic conditions, asthma can be managed. With the proper steps taken and the right knowledge you can lessen your attacks, be ready to avert any danger and make sure that your heath and wellbeing is never adversely affected by your condition.
- Know your allergens. Asthma is most commonly stimulated by allergens like pollen or dust and as such knowing what causes a reaction in you and how best avoid coming into contact with that allergen is the best way to stay healthy. There are all sorts of ways of doing this and the simplest is paying attention to the pollen counts on the weather forecast and then trying to avoid being outside for too long on those days!
- A tidy home is imperative to asthmatics. You’re going to want to hoover at least once per week and keep your home free of mould and indoor plants (if you can manage that).
- Dust mites are the enemy. They feed on dead skin cells and excrete a protein which is the most common exacerbating factor for asthmatics. Hoovering often and changing your bed sheets regularly will help to keep your home free of dust mites.
- Bathroom Blues. Moisture in the air and general dampness can make your asthma worse so make sure to either open a window when showering or leave the extractor fan on for a while afterwards! Warm, moist environments are also ideal for mould, so it’s best to remove as much moisture from the air as you physically can!
