5 Ways to Revive a Relationship that’s Gone Stale

Relationships can often go stale. Physical intimacy diminishes as family life intrudes and work pressures grow. Too often couples accept this new situation too readily and simply let their sex life fade and die without fighting to rekindle their physical desire.

But there is no reason to let your sex life dwindle. Follow these 5 simple tips to restore the passion and romance to your relationship.

Take time to remind your partner what first attracted you to each other in the first place. Be confident in your own physical appeal but also your emotional appeal, too. Make an effort to look good and to stay fit and healthy.

Take the initiative. Often couples simply fall into a rut and get stuck in a routine where lovemaking is a chore – once a week or else! – and not the delightful activity it once was. So break out of that routine by getting imaginative about lovemaking. That might only involve a sexy shower together or a fun night in a posh hotel but it’s more about you being together and wanting to be together.

Make time for each other. Life too frequently gets in the way of being able to talk properly to each other. Set aside one night or day a week where it’s just you and your partner. Some people call it date night. You can call it whatever you like so long as it’s an evening where you and your significant other can be together without all the distractions of everyday life.

Talk about things that bother you. Unresolved disagreements or arguments can be a barrier to getting physically close as one half of the partnership harbours resentment about past slights. You need to get past that and one way to do it is talk openly about what’s upsetting you. Both of you will feel a lot better once unspoken anger is resolved.

Be comfortable about surrendering control. In some relationships, one partner will always take charge in the bedroom. That person might also be in control of other aspects of their lives and that can be a real turn-off. Sometimes it’s better just to let go – and both of you will enjoy the results.
