Could Ayurveda Help You Put An End To Your Health Concerns?

On August 26-30th, 2013, the California College of Ayurveda will open its doors for the panchakarma training programme at its headquarters in Nevada City, California. Every year, the Ayurveda school offers a five-day, 45-hour panchakarma specialist training programme, but how can this complementary wellness method guard your wellbeing against health concerns, such as chronic illnesses?

As one of the few systems of medicine that treats the patient at the level of body, mind and consciousness, Ayurveda is the most complete and best developed natural system of health across the globe. At the deepest level, you intuitively want someone who really understands who you are and why you are suffering, which Ayurveda aims to provide. If practiced correctly, Ayurveda can be more effective and safe than Western medicine in the management of chronic diseases of the body and the mind, with few or no side effects.

This is why the California College of Ayurveda – which is the longest running, State-approved college offering professional training programmes for the study of Ayurvedic Medicine in the West – put on this advanced programme for students who have completed the Ayurvedic Massage and Body Therapy training programme and who are enrolled in, or a graduate of, the Ayurvedic Health Practitioner or Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist training programmes.

The special seminar training, hands-on programme gives students the opportunity to learn about panchakarma and clinical management, fine-tune their practices of abhyanga (Ayurvedic massage), shirodara, and svedana (herbal steam treatment), learn how to perform basti (enema) and nasya treatments and discuss issues related to the daily practice of panchakarma.

As an Ayurvedic patient, you are given control of your own process. It’s up to you to make the lifestyle adjustments you need to heal. If you’ve ever been to a yoga class, you may have heard of Ayurveda before, as this is the medical side of Yoga. While yoga provides a solid foundation for the healing of the mind through deep relaxation and the use of conscious exercise, Ayurveda its potential using diet, lifestyle and herbal medicines. Hence, CCA trains students to become the healers of the future; Ayurvedic practitioners dedicated to understanding the whole person – physically, emotionally, spiritually.
