Sex can be a sensitive issue – literally and figuratively. We all know that sex is supposed to be a universally pleasurable experience where two people enjoy a sexual experience together, and most of the time sex is a very enjoyable way to spend your time. We are far more likely to assume that women will feel discomfort during sex than men. However, it’s important to recognise that this isn’t always the case.

It is often true that men can have an uncomfortable or, for some individuals, even painful experiences when they attempt to have sex. There is a huge range of reasons that this might be the case and if you’re worried about pain during sex then it’s always the best idea to see a doctor and get a full understanding of what might be wrong with. It always helps to be well informed, so here are a number of common problems that affect men during sex. Peyronie’s disease is one of the most common problems that men have. It actually affects around 1% of the male population. When the man suffers from this problem it is often noticeable because the penis becomes curved or bent when erect. Physical damage to the penis causes a build-up of scar tissue that brings out this curvature. Of course, sometimes the curvature is not caused by a disease but by the bending of the penis. If your partner accidentally slips during intercourse it can bend the penis and cause lasting damage.

But there are actually many other problems that can be considered a real issue that cause real problems for your wellbeing. One such issue is prostatitis which is a problem in which the prostate becomes inflamed or infection – this causes swelling and can lead to a burning sensation while urinating and a number of other problems. Yeast infections can be another unfortunate affliction for men. It is effectively male thrush – this can be easily treated with creams but while you have it can cause itching and irritations that can be very uncomfortable. Another sexually transmitted infection is genital herpes and this can leave sores on your penis that can make having sex very uncomfortable.

There’s a less common issue called dermatitis where men can be allergic to soaps. This can cause inflammation which can make sex less pleasant. Obviously the easy way around this is to avoid certain types of soap, but it still takes time to heal. Phimosis is another issue where the foreskin is too tight to be retract fully over the head of the penis. Some men also have issues with psoriasis. This usually is a condition that isn’t associated with sexual health but it can actually cause a number of problems for men during sex. As the skin is naturally having problems it can be very uncomfortable. The rubbing of skin only causes more problems and makes the condition worse so it’s very important that the symptoms are managed and you do everything you can to avoid complications. As with any sexual health issues it’s always best to talk to your doctor and fully understand the problems you may be facing. The issues that have been documented in this article are only a small selection, there are actually a huge number of things that it could be. Be sure to get the right information so you can be sure that the treatment is correct.
